OVERVIEW: Advanced Federal Court Practice, presented by the NBA Federal Court Committee, will provide live demonstrations and conversational-style panels that address advanced topics, including how to conduct an effective meet and confer, handle an extraordinary relief claim, and communicate with the press about your case.

1:30 – 2:30 p.m. EFFECTIVE MEET AND CONFERS
The panel will conduct a mock meet-and-confer and mock case management conference, then provide tips on using Rule 26(f) conferences to your advantage by focusing on issues early in the case, reining in e-discovery, addressing protective orders, and working with opposing counsel in a cooperative manner to streamline the case and issues, saving your client time and money.

The panel will conduct a mock TRO hearing, then provide practical advice on how to address claims for extraordinary relief including tips related to ex parte communications, TRO hearings, preliminary injunction hearings, filing documents under seal, impoundment, and use of U.S. Marshals.
