Drones:
how new and evolving federal and state laws on unmanned aerial systems (uas) will impact your clients

JUNE 17, 2014 Registration 11:30a.m. | Seminar 12 - 1 p.m. 1.0 CLE Hours Register

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:Corporate counsel, civil rights attorneys, criminal defense, insurance defense and plaintiff attorneys, government attorneys, and prosecutors.

OVERVIEW:  Tennessee is crafting unmanned system (drone) legislation.  The proposed legislation is expected to be highly restrictive, essentially banning all use by civilians, except as specifically authorized.  The Federal regulations are rapidly evolving as well.  Meanwhile, businesses and law enforcement are increasingly using unmanned vehicles in ways that are either outside of, or in violation of, the legal framework.

Find out how the legislation will impact your practice:  Advising potential clients in the commercial use, guiding personnel in government agencies about the civil use, and counseling criminal defendants about 4th amendment issues.

SEMINAR BENEFITS:

  1.          1. Insurance defense and plaintiff attorneys:  There are going to be liability issues when the                       systems malfunction and cause injuries or invade privacy.
  2.          2. Government attorneys: You will need to advice user agencies such as law enforcement
                  and land management.
  3.          3. Corporate counsel: A wide variety of industries are going to be using unmanned systems.
  4.          4. Criminal defense attorneys and prosecutors:  The Nashville Police Department already
has two drones.  There are going to be search and seizure issues.
  5.          5. Civil rights lawyers: There are significant privacy concerns.
