WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Family law practitioners who would like a basic knowledge of collaborative practice and other lawyers who need to know referral options for their clients starting the divorce process.
OVERVIEW: Although well established nationwide, collaborative family law is a new alternative dispute resolution tool available to families divorcing and post divorce in Tennessee. The focus on collaborative is the parties and their professionals working as a team to reach a durable negotiated settlement.
Presenters in this seminar will focus on the basics of the collaborative process including: the team concept; the members of the team; how lawyers, financial neutrals, and mental health professionals work together; and the attorney opt-out provision.

- 1. An important alternative available to clients
- 2. The elements of collaborative law
- 3. The difference between collaborative practice and mediation
- 4. Clients who may and who may not be suitable for collaborative work
- 5. The ethics of collaborative practice
