WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Attorneys whose practice includes health law, employment law, corporate, and in-house counsel will benefit from the program.
OVERVIEW: The Affordable Care Act (often referred to as “Obamacare”) has been upheld by the United States Supreme Court and is now being implemented throughout the country. The Department of Health and Human Services has promulgated extensive regulations spelling out the details of implementation. States and private employers are struggling to understand how this sweeping new law will affect them.
We are fortunate to have Richard G. Cowart, Chair of the Health Law and Public Policy Department at Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC, as our speaker on this important topic. Mr. Cowart is a Past President of the American Health Lawyers Association and monitors developments affecting the implementation of the ACA at the state and national level. He writes a regular column for the Tennessean on health issues and is a frequent speaker on issues related to the ACA.
YOU WILL LEARN:
1. The status and purpose of Health Insurance Exchanges, both in Tennessee and throughout
the country.
2. The status of Medicaid expansion, both in Tennessee and throughout the country.
3. The issues facing employers as they decide to "pay or play" in providing health insurance to
their employees.
4. The systemic changes underway as hospital, health systems, physician groups and others decipher the changing landscape of health care in the U.S.
